Love, Victor is a follow -up television series conceived by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger to the film Love, Simon , which they wrote and based on the novel Just Three Words by Becky Albertalli . The first season of the series, which was originally supposed to be released on Disney + , came out on Hulu with ten episodes on June 17, 2020 . The main character of the series is Victor, played by Michael Cimino . Nick Robinson , who played the title role in the film, is the narrator and producer on the series.

The series takes place on the locations of the film: Creekwood High School near Atlanta , Georgia . The Puerto Rican Victor has just moved there with his family and is a new high school student. In addition to family and school problems, he has to deal with his self-discovery because he is not yet sure of his own sexual orientation . As he develops feelings for the boy Benji, he seeks advice from Simon Spier, whose outing in the film was in the attention of Creekwood High School.

In April 2019 ordered Disney for its new streaming platform Disney + eponymous successor series to Greg Berlantis film Love, Simon was with the authors Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger as showrunner, from the initially reported to be on the successor novel is a happy ending only the beginning based should. But Berger made it clear that she would focus on a new child with a new story. In May, a first description of the central love story and the main characters Victor and his crush Benji followed. The cast was announced in August, with Mia initially to be played by Johnny Sequoya, but later that month changed to Rachel Naomi Hilson.
In February 2020 it was announced that the series, Love, Victor, would be re- titled and will appear on Hulu instead of Disney + in June, the month of Pride . The reason for the switch was that certain themes of the series would not fit the family-friendly content of Disney +, while Hulu shows more series for young adults. On April 26th, the first teaser with a scene between Victor and Benji announced the start of the series as June 19th. The first trailer followed exactly one month later . On June 10th, Hulu announced that it would bring the show forward to June 17th out of consideration for Juneteenth .
Isaac Aptaker announced in June 2020 that they were already working on a second season. The renewal for the second season was announced on August 7, 2020.
At Rotten Tomatoes , the series achieved a score of 93% based on 45 reviews.
