Lovebites is a power metal band from Tokyo that was founded in 2016 .
history
Lovebites was founded in Tokyo in 2016 by bassist Miho. She previously played in the band Destrose , which broke up in 2015. Former Destrose drummer Haruna joined her. The first line-up was completed by the two guitarists Miyako and Midori, and singer Asami.
By December 2017, the group only played a handful of concerts, including an appearance on Hyper Japan Christmas, which was the band's very first appearance abroad. After their self-made EP with four titles was released in May 2017, their debut album Awakening from Abyss was released on the British label JPU Records at the end of the same year . It was mixed in the Finnvox Studios in Helsinki by Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila , who have already worked with Children of Bodom , Stratovarius , Amorphis and Nightwish .
In February 2018 the band announced that they would play at Wacken Open Air for the first time in August of the same year . This makes Lovebites the first female band from Japan at this music festival. In April the band will play the Japanese edition of the Warped Tour , with Korn , Prophets of Rage and Limp Bizkit , among others . In March of the same year, the nominations for the Golden Gods Awards , the British offshoot of the Metal Hammer , which will be awarded on June 11th, were announced. Lovebites won in the Best New Band category .
A mini-album will be released in June 2018 with Battle Against Damnation .
style
Lovebites' music is shaped by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal . The lyrics are only sung in English , only one song from the EP was written in the mother tongue . Musically, the group is compared to Rage and Iron Maiden .
