Luís Manuel Ribeiro Castro (born September 3, 1961 in Mondrões , Vila Real ) is a Portuguese football coach .

Luís Castro was born on March 5, 2014 by the President of FC Porto , Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa , was nominated for the interim first-team coach after the previous manager Paulo Fonseca had resigned voluntarily. Luís Castro has only had one experience as a coach in the Primeira Liga , when he was coach at FC Penafiel between 2004 and 2006 . In the 2013/14 season he previously worked for FC Porto as a coach for the second team and in the youth division.

Luís Castro was severely affected by an illness in his childhood and youth but played as a defender at Vieirense, followed by União Leiria , Sport Lisboa e Elvas , AD Fafe and RD Agueda . In Águeda he also began his coaching career before going to FC Penafiel. Castro studied physics and has a degree from Coimbra University .
