Luc Mojon

Luc Henry Daniel Mojon (born July 30, 1925 in Bern ; † April 20, 2011 ; resident in Les Hauts-Geneveys ) was a Swiss art historian .

Life

Mojon completed the Matura type C at the municipal high school in Bern in 1945 . After the recruit school he studied art history, archeology and the history of modern German literature at the University of Bern from the winter semester 1945/1946 . During his studies he went on study trips to Italy, France, Germany and England. In 1953 he received his doctorate from Hans R. Hahnloser with a work on the cathedral builder Matthäus Ensinger . In 1968 he received his habilitation in Bern for “Art History of the Middle Ages, especially Architecture and Monument Preservation”. Mojon was associate professor from 1969 and full professor from 1971 at the Institute for Art History at the University of Bern, where he established and headed the Department of Architectural History and Monument Preservation. He dealt particularly with the history of the Bern Minster and with the Benedictine Abbey of St. Johannsen .

The ophthalmologist Daniel Mojon (* 1963) is his son.
