Luciano De Crescenzo (born August 18, 1928 in Naples , † July 18, 2019 in Rome ) was an Italian writer and film director .

Life

De Crescenzo was born in 1928 in the Neapolitan district of Santa Lucia . He studied engineering at the University of Naples and then worked as a senior engineer at the computer company IBM before devoting himself entirely to writing and philosophy in the mid-1970s .

De Crescenzo was divorced, had a daughter, and lived in Naples, the atmosphere of which he repeated in his books, and in Rome .

Publications

He has published around 40 books, many of which have become international bestsellers . In his books he humorously combines the way of life and mentality of Italy and especially that of his hometown Naples with philosophical topics. So far, his works have been translated into 19 languages ​​and 18 million books have been sold.

After his sensational literary success Also sprach Bellavista , De Crescenzo wrote other books on philosophy and antiquity, in which he took up antique motifs in a humorous way.
