Luciano Ligabue

Luciano Ligabue (born March 13, 1960 in Correggio , Emilia-Romagna ), stage name Ligabue , is an Italian rock musician , cantautore , writer and director . He began his musical career in 1990, stylistically combining the Italian songwriting tradition with rock music. He is considered one of the most important rock musicians in Italy, "a rock star in every respect, the only one in Italy next to Vasco Rossi ". In 2004 he was awarded an honorary doctorate in Editoria, comunicazione multimediale e giornalismo (publishing, multimedia communication and journalism) from the University of Teramo .

Career

Ligabue in 1991

Ligabue completed an apprenticeship as an accountant and then worked in various jobs, such as day laborer or DJ , and was also a councilor in Correggio. In 1988 he wrote the song Sogni di rock 'n' roll for Pierangelo Bertoli , which he published on the album Dream e me . By winning the local music competition Terremoto Rock , he had the opportunity to record his first own single, Bar Mario / Anime in plexiglass . Together with Figlio d'un cane , rewritten for Bertoli, the songs landed on Ligabue's self-titled studio album in 1990. This year he was named best newcomer for the song Balliamo sul mondo at Festivalbar . He then went on tour with the group ClanDestino .

Ligabue continued its live activity until 1993 and released two more albums, Lambrusco coltelli rose & pop corn and Sopravvissuti e sopravviventi . Then he separated from his manager Angelo Carrara and after the next album A che ora è la fine del mondo? also from ClanDestino. Together with Valerio Soave, he founded the Mescal label, but quickly withdrew from it himself. With the album Buon compleanno Elvis , Ligabue achieved a number one album in 1995 and with it the final breakthrough. The tour was also an enormous success and in 1997 the live album Su e giù da un palco was released , which also reached number one in the charts. In that year he also published the book Fuori e dentro il borgo , a collection of short stories. In 1998 Ligabue processed the book partly in the film Radiofreccia , his directorial debut, which u. a. with three David di Donatello and two Nastri d'Argento .

Together with Jovanotti and Piero Pelù , Ligabue recorded the charity single Il mio nome è mai più on the occasion of the Kosovo war in 1999 for the benefit of Emergency , which remained at the top of the Italian single charts for a total of 17 weeks. He also presented the next album Miss Mondo , which, like the single Una vita da mediano, was a great success. Another extended tour followed. After a short artistic break, Ligabue released his second film Da zero a dieci in 2002 . The title track Questa è la mia vita was a number one hit and went to the next album Fuori come va? ahead. The live album Giro d'Italia emerged from the subsequent tour and once again reached the top of the chart.

In 2004 Ligabue reappeared as a writer and published the dystopian novel La neve se ne frega . In 2005 he organized the Campovolo concert at Reggio Emilia airport in front of around 170,000 spectators, at which ClanDestino were again present, and then released the new album Nome e cognome . Over the course of the following year he gave further concerts all over Italy, and with Lettere d'amore nel frigo , a collection of poems, another book was published. For Elisa he wrote the song Gli ostacoli del cuore , in which he was involved both as a guest singer and as the director of the music video. Between 2007 and 2008 he continued his live activity and released a two-part best-of album: Prima parte and Seconda parte . With the single Niente paura , he also landed another number one hit.

Appearance in 2009

The live album Sette notti in Arena (2009) documented a seven-part concert series in the Verona Arena in 2008 and bridged the waiting time for the next studio album Arrivederci, mostro! , which was released in 2010 and preceded by the number one hit Un colpo all'anima . In the documentary Niente Paura by Piergiorgio Gay played Ligabue and his music an important role. After another Campovolo concert, the musician released the three-part live album Campovolo 2.011 and the concert film Campovolo - Il film 3D . With Il rumore dei baci a vuoto a new collection of stories was released in 2012, followed by the next studio album Mondovisione in 2013 with the successful single Il sale della Terra , which was also remixed by Benny Benassi . Another live album, Giro del mondo , emerged from the extensive tour in 2015 . There was also a third Campovolo concert.

In 2016, Ligabue released its next collection of short stories, Scusate il disordine . Based on Campovolo, he performed two evenings later in the year in the park of Monza as part of the Liga Rock Park event . He also announced the new album Made in Italy .
