action

When Choi Dae-ho goes to an amusement park with his son Min-woo , he is kidnapped. Three years later, he has still not found him, and the kidnappers have not requested anything. As a journalist , Dae-ho suspects that various managers and politicians he reported on were possible kidnappers. But he never finds evidence. One day he reads a report on how the FBI used lucid dreaming to solve a case . He finds out that the expert in the field in South Korea is an old friend of his. With Dr. He looks for clues in his memories for Kim So-hyun's help.

The dreams give him the names of the kidnappers, Choi Kyung-hwan and Yoo Sang-man. With the help of the police, especially Inspector Song Bang-seop, and privately hired detectives, he goes on a search. However, the former is in a coma , due to a car accident two years ago. Yoo Sang-man, however, is tracked down by the detectives and is about to leave the country. Dae-ho can still stop him, but Yoo tells him that his son is dead and only Choi Kyung-hwan knows more. Yoo Sang-man is said to be interrogated by the police at the station, but is suddenly found hanging in a room.

When Dae-ho visits So-hyun's station again, he sees that the CEO of Hanbit, Mr. Cho Myung-chul, is also receiving treatment there. He learns from So-hyun that it is because of his deceased son. Dae-ho also published reports about Cho and Hanbit, but has not yet considered him as the perpetrator. Upon research, he finds that Cho's son had the same rare blood type as his own son: MkMk, which only about 20 people have in South Korea. He suspects that Cho was looking for a donor for his son and eventually kidnapped Min-woo.

In a department store, Dae-ho accidentally comes across a face from his dreams and chases the person. Kwon Yong-hyun is passionate about lucid dreams and can even hack into other people's dreams . That is why Dae-ho saw him in his dreams too. Dae-ho comes up with the idea of hacking into the dreams of Choi Kyung-hwan, who is in a coma. However, this is dangerous because one also dies if the dreaming person dies. Dae-ho tries it anyway and finds a list of people of the blood type MkMk, which was probably requested by CEO Cho. He also sees that another person was involved in the accident that put Choi Kyung-hwan into a coma. He couldn't make out the face, but he does remember the license plate number.

While the detectives are supposed to track down the owner of the car with the registered number plate, Dae-ho confronts Cho. However, the latter tells him that his son died before Min-woo was kidnapped. He requested the list in order to find a potential donor and to get in touch. However, the list was later stolen from his office. When Dae-ho went through the names again, he noticed the name Song Su-jin, the name of the daughter of the police inspector Song Bang-seop. He's getting an idea of her condition in the hospital. Meanwhile, the detectives tell Dae-ho by phone that the license plate is on Song Bang-seop. That's why Yoo Sang-man had just been found hanging in the police station.

Dae-ho learns from the police inspector that he will do anything to save his daughter. He hired the two kidnappers, but they didn't hand him over Min-woo. So he looked for these and took the case. Now that Song Bang-seop found out about the possibility of communicating in dreams, he has new hope. He seeks out Kwon Yong-hyun to penetrate the dream of Choi Kyung-hwan. Before that, he ordered another police officer to drown Dae-ho in the lake. But the detectives appear and are able to save Dae-ho.

Dae-ho seeks out So-hyun in order to penetrate Choi Kyun-hwan's dream with her help. Both Dae-ho and Police Inspector Bang-seop learn the whereabouts of Min-woo, a church. But Choi Kyung-hwan is dying and both Dae-ho and the policeman fail to find the right frequency to leave the dream. The dream crumbles and the dream frequency device seems lost, but at the last moment Dae-ho can grab it and leave the dream.

In the end, he meets his son in church.

criticism

The film flopped in South Korea and had just over 100,000 visitors.

Jin Min-ji of the Korea JoongAng Daily wrote that while the film idea was original and featured a star cast, it did not take full advantage of either. The plot and characters are too weak. Yonhap's Shim Sun-ah endorses the verdict. Due to the interesting scenario and the cast, the film has great potential, but ultimately disappoints. The film is not exciting, predictable and the actors showed no emotions. She highlighted the effects and Go Soo in the lead role only as positive factors.
