Lucky Luke is a western comedy from 1991 with Terence Hill in the lead role and is based on the comic book of the same name by the comic artist Morris . The film celebrated its cinema premiere on July 4, 1991 and reached almost one million cinema visitors in Germany.
action
When settlers in the middle of the desert find a daisy in their search for a suitable piece of land , they take this as a sign and decide to settle there and found the city of Daisy Town . Lucky Luke becomes sheriff there after many predecessors died with a shot in the heart and frees the city from the four Dalton brothers, who had repeatedly oppressed the people. Lucky Luke starts a relationship with the attractive singer Lotta.
However, the two hardly find time for each other, as Luke gives himself to his time-consuming and stressful job. Discontent soon spreads across the city as Luke's excessive accuracy annoys many. The situation is exploited by the Daltons, who first frightened the Indians with visions of the future such as the extinction of the bison , the building of oil rigs and the destruction of their prairie with atomic bombs and road construction and then angered the citizens of the city against Luke. There is a duel between the four brothers and Lucky Luke, with Jolly Jumper standing in front of Lucky Luke and protecting him. Finally, Lucky Luke can turn off the Daltons and ultimately turn everything for the best.
When gold is found nearby, a gold rush breaks out among the city's residents and many of them flee Daisy Town. Lucky Luke says goodbye to Lotta with Daisies and then disappears on the horizon on his horse.

reception
criticism
The lexicon of international film notes with disappointment: “Terence Hill's atmospheric, nostalgic staging exploits well-known spaghetti western clichés and never achieves the parodic tone of the original. Lucky Luke, the 'Lonesome Cowboy', has little of the slightly arrogant nobility of the comic figure, but all the more of Hill's well-known childish charm. "
Publication on DVD
On January 31, 2008, the film was also released on DVD.
TV series and sequel
Of the television series of the same name with the same cast, eight 45-minute episodes were shot between 1990 and 1992.
The sequel Lucky Luke 2 (also: Lucky Luke - Der neue Film , original title: Lucky Luke meets Ma Dalton and the Ghost Train ) is not an independent film, but a compilation of the series episodes Ma Dalton is and remains unique and a beautiful one Train by magic .
