Lucy Crowe

Lucy Crowe (born 1978 or 1979 in Staffordshire ) is an English opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Crowe studied at the Royal Academy of Music , won the Royal Overseas Gold Medal in 2002 and performed with major orchestras (including in Zagreb , Tokyo , Brighton and the National Portrait Gallery ). She made her debut at the Scottish Opera as Sophie in Rosenkavalier and as Nannetta in Falstaff , at the English National Opera as Poppea in Agrippina and as Drusilla in L'incoronazione di Poppea . She performed at the festivals of Aldeburgh , Edinburgh and Glyndebourne and was finally engaged at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2009 , where she was successful as Belinda in Dido and Aeneas , again as Sophie and Gilda in Rigoletto , and finally as Susanna in Le in 2013 nozze di Figaro could be heard and seen.

She made her US debut as Iole in Handel's Hercules at the Chicago Lyric Opera , followed by Servilia in La clemenza di Tito at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She sang Sophie at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and played the shepherdess Dorinda in Handel's Orlando at the Opéra de Lille in Paris and at the Opéra de Dijon . Glyndebourne saw and heard her in Purcell's The Fairy Queen and as The Cunning Little Vixen by Leoš Janáček .

In 2010 she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival in the soprano role of Milhaud's Les Choéphores under Ingo Metzmacher . Two years later she took part in the opening of the first spiritual overture - in Haydn's Creation , played and sung by the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists under John Eliot Gardiner . Lucy Crowe has performed recitals across the UK, including at Wigmore Hall in London, and made her debut at Carnegie Hall in the 2013-14 season . In the course of her career, the artist has sung under renowned conductors, including Yannick Nezet-Seguin , Emmanuelle Haïm , Sir Antonio Pappano , Sir Charles Mackerras , Sir Roger Norrington , Andris Nelsons , Trevor Pinnock , Mark Minkowski and Harry Bicket .

In 2012 their first child, a daughter, was born.
