Ludwig Gebhard Graf von Hoym (born October 23, 1678 in Droyziger ; † May 6, 1738 ibid) was the royal Polish and electoral Saxon Privy Councilor and captain in Thuringia , lord of the lordships of Droyßig, Slawentzitz and heir, feudal lord and court lord on Schkölen , Gleina , Nebra , Birkigt, Löbichau etc.

Life

Hoym came from the old Anhalt noble family Hoym with the same parent house near Hoym (first documented mention 1195) and was the son of Ludwig Gebhard von Hoym (1631–1711) and Catharina Sophia von Schönfeld. His brother Adolph Magnus von Hoym was temporarily married to the well-known Countess Cosel . After the latter's childless death, he inherited extensive estates in Upper Silesia with several factories and thus became one of the financially strongest men in the Electorate of Saxony. This is also reflected in the numerous funeral sermons and mourning poems that appeared in print on the occasion of his funeral on May 14, 1738, including by the deacon Michael Ranft .

He married Rahel Louise born on June 2, 1716 in Dresden . Countess von Werthern and had nine children with her, including Julius Gebhard (1721–1769) and Gotthelf Adolph (1731–1783) Count von Hoym. Only a few days after his death, their 18-year-old son Georg Ludwig Graf von Hoym died on May 29, 1738, who was buried on June 2, 1738.
