Bruno Castanheira
Bruno Miguel Castanheira Gomes (born February 4, 1977 in Barreiro , † September 14, 2014 in Torres Vedras ) was a Portuguese cyclist .
Athletic career
Bruno Castanheira began his career in 1999 with the Portuguese cycling team LA-Pecol . In 2000 he started in the road race of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , which he could not finish. In 2004 he won the Portuguese road championship after the disqualification of the actual winner Pedro Miguel Lopes . In 2005 he finished second at the Clássica de Guimarães . From the 2007 season he drove alongside José Azevedo for Benfica Lisbon .
Professional, private
After the end of his active sporting career, Castanheira worked as a masseur , most recently with the Louletano / Dunas Douradas team . On September 14, 2014, he was found dead by his eight-year-old son in the family home due to illness.
