José Mendes
José João Pimenta Costa Mendes (born April 24, 1985 in Guimarães ) is a Portuguese road cyclist .
Career
After Mendes won the Volta ao Portugal do Futuro in 2007 , he joined the Portuguese Professional Continental Team Benfica in 2008 . At the Tour of Luxembourg , he came ninth in the overall ranking and thus finished third in the junior ranking. In 2010 he won a stage at the Grande Prémio Internacional de Torres Vedras and - after a doping qualification - the original winner - the Tour of Portugal . With the Vuelta a España 2013 he contested his first Grand Tour and finished the race 22nd. In 2016 and 2019 he became Portuguese road racing champion
