Manuel António Leal Cardoso (born April 7, 1983 in Paços de Ferreira ) is a former Portuguese cyclist .

Athletic career

Manuel Cardoso was active as an elite racing driver from 2006 to 2015. In his first year he won one stage of the Tour of Portugal and three more in the following years. In total, he won 17 UCI races during his cycling career . 15 of these successes were stage wins in tours, most of them on the Iberian Peninsula , such as the Vuelta a Castilla y León , the Volta ao Alentejo or the Grande Prémio Internacional de Torres Vedras . In 2009 he was successful at a stage of the Tropicale Amissa Bongo Ondimba in Gabon and in 2010 at a stage of the Tour Down Under in Australia . In 2009 he became the Portuguese road racing champion. He started four times in major country tours . At the Vuelta a España 2010 he was third in the 18th stage, behind the British Mark Cavendish and the Argentine Juan José Haedo .

In 2012 Cardoso took part in the road race at the Olympic Games in London and finished 49th. In 2015, he finished his cycling career.
