Ludwig Knorr (judge)

Ludwig Knorr (born November 21, 1827 in Gießen , † November 7, 1905 in Darmstadt ) was a German judge and politician .

Ludwig Knorr was the son of the Giessen director of studies and member of the state parliament Karl Ludwig Christian Knorr (1800–1868) and his wife Sophie Christiane née Buff (1798–1844). The Secret State Councilor Heinrich Knorr (1830–1904) was his brother. Ludwig Knorr, of the Protestant denomination wa, married Amalie Wilhelmine Antonie, née Prinz (born February 16, 1835 in Darmstadt, † July 1, 1887 in Gießen) in Darmstadt on August 18, 1860 , the daughter of the government commissioner Johann Christian Prinz (1801– 1849) and his wife Emilie née Lichtenberg (1806-1892). The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Emilie Goldmann, b. Knorr (* 1861), married the later Royal Prussian Lieutenant Colonel Emil Goldmann (1852–1908) on October 8, 1881 in Gießen
  • Antonie Gail, b. Knorr (* 1864), first married the factory owner Georg Schirmer in Gießen on June 24, 1882, married the owner of the Gail'schen cigar factory and later Grand Ducal Hessian secret council of commerce and member of the second marriage on July 9, 1904 in Gießen First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse Wilhelm Gail (1854–1925)
  • Emma Nebel, b. Knorr (1869–1950) married on June 6, 1887 in Gießen the consistorial president Dr. Theol. Ludwig Nebel (1857–1928)

Ludwig Knorr studied law. During his studies in 1845 he became a member of the Allemannia Gießen fraternity . In 1848 he entered the civil service and in 1879 became president of the regional court in Giessen . In 1892 he became president of the higher regional court at the higher regional court in Darmstadt . On the occasion of his 50th anniversary in service, he was honored in 1898 with the title of Real Secret Council with the title of Excellence . The University of Giessen honored him with the title of Dr. jur. hc

In 1889 he was appointed by the Grand Duke as a lifelong member of the 1st Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .
