Ludwig Philipp von Röbel (* 1707 ; † September 21, 1761 near Katzenberg ) was a Prussian major general , chief of the infantry regiment S 55 and knight of the Pour le Mérite .

Life

origin

His parents were Hans Joachim von Röbel and Johanna Maria von Götzen. His sister-in-law's father was the general and governor of Wittenberg, Christian Dietrich von Röbel .

Military career

Röbel therefore entered the Saxon service and fought as a major in the Electoral Saxon Infantry Regiment No. 8 1745 at the Battle of Thrush . In 1751 he became a lieutenant colonel .

After the Saxons capitulated in Pirna , Röbel went into Prussian service . In 1760 he took over the S 55 infantry regiment , which was originally formed from Saxon prisoners. In 1761 the regiment was quartered in the camp near Katzenberg (at that time also called cat houses). There Röbel fell ill with dysentery and died on September 21, 1761.
