history
The first documented form of place name dates from around 1600 as the Holtz der Katzenberg , in 1662 a tavern is called. In 1737 a Vorwerk was created around which the later settlement was formed.
August Schumann mentions Katzenberg in the State, Post and Newspaper Lexicon of Saxony in 1817 concerning a. a .:
“The place takes its name from the Katzenberg on which it lies […]. The village has an inn, belongs to the Raußlitz manor in writing and is parish in Raußlitz. - The local area is historically memorable because of the fixed position that Prince Heinrich's corps had taken for a whole year (1762–1763) to dominate Noßner Strasse. A fairly well-preserved but wood-covered hill is still left of it. […] In the peasant unrest of 1790, more than 1000 troubled people from the communities of Wendisch-Bora, Obereule , Neu-Mergenthal etc. gathered here in August and threatened to ruin the city of Meissen if some of their comrades from Obereule were not released who had usurped the office of ringleader . In the urge of circumstances and because the crew was too weak, one really had to give in to the rebels' request. "
In 1935 Katzenberg was incorporated into Ilkendorf. On January 1, 1973, the Ilkendorf community was incorporated into the Heynitz community . The latter was incorporated into the city of Nossen on January 1, 2003, making Katzenberg a part of the municipality of Nossen since then.
