Niedermühle Graupzig with Ketzerbach

Graupzig is a district of the Saxon town of Nossen in the district of Meißen .

geography

Graupzig is located about 11 km west of Meißen and 5 km south of Lommatzsch in the Lommatzscher care . The Ketzerbach divides the place into the former parts Graupzig and Neugraupzig. A mill ditch fed by a weir in the Ketzerbach supplies the Niedermühle Graupzig , a watermill that is still functional today , with energy.

The village itself is characterized by several, only partially preserved four-sided courtyards. The town center is formed by the manor , of which only the outbuildings and the castle pond are reminiscent of the former, stately property.

history

The basic rule Graupzig was once one of the most prestigious in the country. The simple baroque castle, probably a former moated castle, testified to this . It was owned by the von Rechenberg family until 1550 . Then followed Balthasar von Rothenberg .

For many centuries, Graupzig was closely associated with the Schleinitz , Gödelitz and Petzschwitz manors. The von Schleinitz family was also Herr auf Graupzig. With the death of Abraham von Schleinitz , the era of von Schleinitz to Schleinitz and with it Graupzig ended. As a result, the von Loß families ruled and from 1664 the von Bose family ruled . In 1773 Graupzig came into the possession of the von Zehmen . In the 19th century, Ludwig von Zehmen inherits the manor Graupzig and Gödelitz from his father. The manor was owned by the family until the beginning of 1920.

Then Ottomar Heinsius von Mayenburg , inventor of the Chlorodont toothpaste, acquired the Graupzig manor. After the end of the Second World War , the property of the von Mayenburg family was expropriated and the castle was demolished in 1948 on the instructions of the then Soviet military administration in Germany SMAD ( SMAD order no. 209 ).
