Local history

The first recorded form of place names dates from 1282 as Bor , and in 1336 Bor teutonicum is written . August Schumann mentions in 1814 in the State, Post and Newspaper Lexicon of Saxony Deutschebora concerning u. a .:

“It has a mother church , […], like a manor , to which the village with 12 ¾  hooves and 3 mills belong. Officially, however, the villages belong here: Gertzsch, Neu-Mergenthal and Ober-Eula. - The von Mergenthal family has owned this manor for hundreds of years. The last owner, Philipp von Mergenthal, died unmarried in 1748, and with him the whole family of the male line ended. [...] There is also an escort house in the village , which belongs to the Graubzig Manor . "

Albert Schiffner added in 1828 a. a .:

“Obereule belongs to the here. Good only in part, and Neumergenthal only understands Häusler . The estate carries 1  knight's horse , and in 1547 it belonged to the well-known Wolf v. Mergenthal, [...], and has his pretty and handsome buildings on a hill above the street. "

The manor belonged to the von Ende family from 1748 and after that it had several mostly bourgeois changes of ownership. The last owner was Martin Francke until the expropriation in 1945. The manor house served as a school until 1998 and can no longer be used due to the roof structure destroyed by a fire at the end of 2001. The farm building is partially inhabited.

On December 22, 1868, Deutschebora received a railway connection on the Borsdorf – Coswig line with the train station of the same name, located about 1.3 kilometers southwest of the town center .

In 1935 Elgersdorf and Mergenthal were incorporated. On January 1, 1996, Deutschebora with its former districts Elgersdorf and Mergenthal was incorporated into the city of Nossen.

Evangelical Church Deutschebora

It is likely that Deutschebora had its own church building from the start. The mention of a pastor from Deu-czin-böre is secured in a document from 1428.

In 1698 the building was completely renewed and the 33 m high church tower was built on late medieval foundations. The baptismal font made in the Renaissance style dates from 1562. From 1700 to 1708 a new nave was built, which was extended to the east around 1739.

Concerning the church, August Schumann cites the state, postal and newspaper encyclopedia of Saxony:

“Because Bora had few inhabitants in earlier times, the church in the village was initially and for a long time the branch of Hirschfeld. But when the last owner of the village built a new village on the property and named it Mergenthal after his name, and gave each inhabitant some fields and garden land, when the population of Deutschebohra increased and the inhabitants of Elgersdorf among the local population Wished to come to church, in 1708 a priest was employed here. "

Albert Schiffner added in 1828:

“The church is under the inspection of Meissen and under stately collage . Before reform. she belonged to the Sedes Roßwein . In 1698 she was bought by a woman v. Mergenthal completely rebuilt, and in 1739 by Canon Aug. Phil. M. embellished and richly endowed . "

In the church there is a gender trait of the Mergenthalers. The first panel of the family migration from 1556 allegedly shows the grandmother of Martin Luther's wife Katharina von Bora , and from 1667–1700 two more panels were added.

The oldest bell was cast in Freiberg in 1561. In 2003 the bell cage was renewed. In 1914 the church received a new organ, built by the Eule company from Bautzen , it was installed behind the old organ prospect. The organ prospectus was created in 1740 by the Meissen organ builder Johann Ernst Hähnel . In 1998 the roof structure was renovated. In 2003 the facade of the nave was first renovated, followed by the church tower in 2006. The renovation of the exterior began in autumn 2011, with the roof of the nave being re-covered and necessary repairs carried out on the roof structure. Dormers were inserted into the roof cladding on the south side and those on the north side were newly integrated into the roof cladding. Furthermore, roof plumbing work, changes to the drainage as well as plastering and painting work on the facade were carried out and the lightning protection system was renewed.
