Ludwig von Canal
Jerome Louis Canal , born Girolamo Luigi Malabaila di Castellinaldo (* 10. November 1704 in Turin ; † 18th July 1773 in Vienna ) was a Sardinian diplomat.
Life
Marchese Ludwig Canal came from an Italian noble family allegedly Venetian origin, which in 1640 the imperial nobility and in 1672 the kingdom knighthood received. He was born as the only son of Count Giacomo Ignazio and his wife Anna Lovisa born. Countess of Morra born. For the Sardinian King Karl Emanuel III. he was in the diplomatic service for 40 years, first from 1733 to 1736 as envoy in The Hague , then from 1737 to 1740 as envoy, and from 1752 to 1763 as a royal Sardinian authorized minister at the imperial court in Vienna . On May 5, 1769 he was raised to the bohemian count in Vienna .
Canal was married to Maria Anna, b. Countess of Pálffy (1716–1773). His son was the Bohemian philanthropist Emmanuel von Canal (1745-1826).
