Ludwig von l'Hospital

Ludwig von l'Hospital (* 1669 ; † March 25, 1755 in Memel ) was a Prussian general of the infantry , commander of Memel and chief of the garrison battalion No. 1 .

He comes from a French Protestant noble family and was the nephew of General Ludwig von Beauveau . He first came to his uncle Ludwig von Beauveau in Champagne for safety reasons . He sent him to the court of Elector Friedrich Wilhelm as a page . On March 30, 1689, Friedrich III. him 100 thalers and appointed him officer in the army.

His first campaign led him to the siege of Bonn , he held up well and quickly rose to major. On June 14, 1710 he became a lieutenant colonel in the cavalry regiment (Prince Friedrich Wilhelm). On August 29, 1719 he became a colonel and, a little later, also the commandant of Königsberg in Prussia . In June 1731 he was promoted to major general. In 1742 he was transferred as a commander of Memel, at the same time he was assigned to garrison battalion No. 1 . In 1744 he was also promoted to lieutenant general and in 1747 was appointed general of the infantry . He died in Memel in 1755.
