Air rescue in the Netherlands

Four rescue helicopters are currently stationed in the Netherlands . Thanks to the cross-border cooperation in air rescue, the rest of the country is also covered, in part by German helicopters.

The ANWB Medical Air Assistance BV (MAA) is an air ambulance service of the Dutch automobile club ANWB with seat and base at Lelystad Airport . The MAA employs 38 pilots and operates the stations in Amsterdam ( Lifeliner 1 ), Rotterdam ( Lifeliner 2 ), Nijmegen ( Lifeliner 3 ), Leeuwarden ( Medic 01 ) and, together with ADAC Luftrettung gGmbH, the station in Groningen ( Lifeliner 4 ).

The ANWB Medical Air Assistance fleet consists of ten helicopters as of June 1, 2020: With the takeover of a third H135 on May 28, 2020, the fleet has been expanded to include three H135 P3s with Helionix avionics (PH-TTR, PH-DOC , PH-LLN). Four more are to follow as part of the contract from October 2018 , initially in June 2020 PH-UMC. The EC135 T2 marked PH-ELP and PH-ULP are sold.

1They are used to transport patients from the West Frisian Islands . One helicopter is stationed at Leeuwarden military airfield , the second is a reserve and is stationed either at Leeuwarden military airfield or at Lelystad airport .

ADAC Luftrettung gGmbH

The German ADAC Luftrettung gGmbH operated the station in Groningen ( Lifeliner 4 ) between 2003 and 2019 in cooperation with the "ANWB Medical Air Assistance" and the "Universitätsklinikum Groningen" (Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen ). The ANWB subsidiary also provides the pilots there. The cooperation with ADAC Luftrettung gGmbH ended on December 31, 2019, the station subsequently fell completely to the MAA.
