Cardinal Luigi Gazzoli

Luigi Gazzoli (born May 4, 1735 in Terni , † January 23, 1809 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

On October 8, 1758, he received from Pope Clement XIII. the first two of the minor orders , the other two minor orders on July 14, 1759. His ordination as subdeacon took place on September 23, 1759, he was ordained as a deacon on March 27, 1762. He was the house prelate of His Holiness and was appointed in 1759 by Pope Clement XIII. appointed his secret chamberlain . On January 24, 1762 he was canon of the Lateran Basilica . As a trainee lawyer at the tribunals of the Apostolic Signature , he was governor of Città di Castello in 1765 , later of Ascoli (1775) and of Ancona (1781). As Apostolic Protonotary he was Governor of Loreto in 1785 . The ordination received Luigi Gazzoli on 15 November 1801 Auditor of the Apostolic Chamber .

In the consistory of May 16, 1803 , Pope Pius VII raised him in pectore to cardinal deacon , this was published in the consistory of July 11 of the same year. The red hat greeted Luigi Gazzoli on July 14, 1803 Title Diakonie Sant'Adriano al Foro Romano on 26 September of the same year.

He died at the age of 73 and was buried in the church of his titular deaconry, Sant'Adriano .

His nephew Ludovico Gazzoli (1774-1858) also became a cardinal in 1831.
