Luis Fernando Cruzado Sánchez (born July 6, 1941 in Lima , † February 14, 2013 there ) was a Peruvian football player . He spent most of his career at the capital city club Universitario de Deportes , celebrated many successes with this club and continued to take part with the national team of his home country in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico .
Career
Club career
Luis Cruzado, born in Peru's capital Lima in 1941, began his footballing career in 1959 with the local club Universitario de Deportes , where he would also be under contract for the following fourteen years until 1973. In the first year of his commitment in today's Peruvian champions Luis Cruzado took the Peruvian Championship, the first for the club since 1949. As a result, could the former Universitario team in which players such as Héctor Chumpitaz , Nicolás Fuentes or Eleazar Soria were until 1971 to win six more championships and develop into the absolute top team in Peru. Luis Cruzado, who played in the position of midfielder, played at Universitario de Deportes until 1973, although he had increasingly lost his regular place recently and was only used in the second leg in the 1972 Copa Libertadores final, for example . In 1974 he played another year at the lower-class provincial club Walter Ormeño before he signed up for another year with Juan Aurich in 1975 . After the end of the 1975 season, Luis Cruzado's football career ended at the age of 34.
National team
Between 1961 and 1971, Luis Cruzado played a total of 26 international matches for the Peruvian national soccer team . In these 26 games he scored a goal. Brazil's soccer legend Didi acting at that time as coach of Peru, Cruzado was the squad for the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico called.
