Luis Manuel Alí Herrera

Luis Manuel Alí Herrera (born May 2, 1967 in Barranquilla , Colombia ) is a Colombian Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Bogotá .

Life

Luis Manuel Alí Herrera studied at the seminary of the Archdiocese of Bogotá. He later graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University with a degree in theology and psychology. On November 28, 1992, he received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Bogotá.

He worked as a parish chaplain , in university pastoral work at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and in priest training at the seminary. Since 2011 he has headed the Maronite staff parish and since 2013 has also been pastor of the parish of San José de Calasanz in Bogotá.

On November 7, 2015 Pope appointed him Francis to the titular of Iubaltiana and Auxiliary of Bogotá. The episcopal ordination donated him and the simultaneously appointed Pedro Manuel Salamanca Mantilla by the Archbishop of Bogotá, Rubén Cardinal Salazar Gómez , on December 12th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Archbishop Ettore Balestrero , and the Archbishop of Villavicencio , Óscar Urbina Ortega .

He has been a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors since 2014 . Pope Francis confirmed his membership in the commission on February 17, 2018.
