Luis Palés Matos
Luis Pales Matos (* 20th March 1898 in Guayama , Puerto Rico ; † 23. February 1959 in San Juan , Puerto Rico) was a Puerto Rican poet , considered an important representative of the Central American - African American poetry, poesía negra , applies .
Life
Palés Matos made his literary debut as a poet as a teenager in 1915 with the collection of poems Azaleas . In 1937 he published his most famous poem, Tuntún de pasa y griferia . Most recently, Poesía, 1915–56, was published in 1957, a collection of his most important lyric works.
Shortly before his death, he became a lecturer at the University of Puerto Rico . However, he was only able to practice this teaching activity for a few weeks before he died of heart failure .
