Luisa Fernandez (born August 14, 1961 in Vigo , Province of Pontevedra , autonomous region of Galicia , Spain ) is a Spanish- born pop singer who lives in Barmstedt .

life and career

Luisa Fernandez was born in 1961 in Vigo in northwestern Spain as one of eight siblings. In the early 1970s the family moved to Germany and settled in Alveslohe ( Segeberg district ) at the gates of Hamburg. Here she attended school and then began training as a hairdresser, which she did not finish.

In 1977 Fernandez was discovered at the age of 16 in a talent competition in the disco Zur Kutsche in Alveslohe, whereupon she received a record deal. The single Lay Love on You came out in early 1978 and reached number 7 in Germany, number 5 in Austria and number 15 in Switzerland. In Belgium the title achieved gold status . The debut album Discodarling , produced by John David Parker, was also a great success. In the same year she also recorded the German version Ein Mann wie du , which was a little more successful in Tina York's version . A second successful single was Give Love a Second Chance in the summer of 1978 , reaching number 11 in Germany and number 16 in Austria. In 1979 the second album Spanish Dancer was released .

After the end of the disco wave, Fernandez was heard very little for a while until she met the German singer and producer Peter Kent . In 1986 the two musicians recorded the joint single Solo por ti , which became a top 20 hit in Germany and even number 1 in Austria. Especially in Austria, the couple, which are also privately linked, were able to record the greatest successes: the singles Con esperanza , Dos horas mas , La luna lila (Purple Moon) , Quizás, quizás, quizás and Y tu climbed into the top 20. In 1997 Fernandez finished the Collaboration with Peter Kent.
