Since the summer of 2016 he has been part of the FC Baden squad with play in the 1st division - Group 2 , one of three parallel groups in the Swiss fourth division.

Career

Luiyi Lugo was born on February 21, 1994 in Santiago de los Caballeros, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic, and came to Switzerland as a four-year-old with his parents, where he spent his football career as a youth player at FC Aarau , among others . Before that, he attended kindergarten and primary school in Baden AG in the canton of Aargau , before he switched to the sports school in Buchs AG and was also employed in the junior division of FC Aarau. After he was still in the U-18 squad until summer 2012, he played in the fifth-highest football league in Switzerland from the 2012/13 season. In the 2nd interregional league - Group 5 , he was used for the U-21 team of FC Aarau and was mostly on the field as a regular. He was used in 13 of the first 14 championship rounds by his then coach Thomas Binggeli and by then had already scored nine league goals. After he had not been part of the squad in eight consecutive championship games between mid-March and mid-May 2013, Binggeli used him in the last four rounds of the game, where he never acted as a regular, but also contributed one more goal. With the team he finished the season in eighth place in the table and was courted by various Swiss teams after scoring ten goals in 17 league games. Finally, in the summer break before the 2013/14 season, he switched to the first fighting team of FC Baden, which is represented in the fourth-class first division - Group 2 .

At the traditional club from Baden, he was used by coach Sven Christ from the start in his traditional position as a center forward, but was rarely used for the full duration of the game. During the season, his positions in the offensive area also changed frequently, although he was mostly on the pitch as a center forward. By the end of the 2013/14 season, the native Dominican, who is also a Swiss citizen , had made 24 championship appearances as well as six goals and was third with the team. The team only just managed to qualify for the subsequent relegation, with Lugo being able to convince in the first round first leg against USV Eschen-Mauren when he contributed a hat trick in a 5-0 runaway win. In his four appearances in the relegation he scored a total of three goals and prepared another for his teammates. On promotion to the Promotion League , the third highest league in the country, only just failed the first team of FC Baden spent the 2014/15 season in the 1. Liga - Group 3. Prior took Lugo still in the qualifying match for the Swiss Cup in 2013 / 14 and made it to the round of 16 in the main competition, where they lost 4-1 to FC Zurich after leading 1-0 . The Dominican-Swiss dual citizen was used as a substitute in the first two games and sat unused on the bench in the last-mentioned round of 16. In the first round win (6-0) over SC Fulenbach , he scored two goals.

In the 2014/15 season he continued to work under the new coach Gabor Gerstenmaier as a regular in the offensive area and was alternately used as a center forward and right winger. Up to the tenth round he was used in all championship games, scoring seven goals before he did not complete a single league game until the winter break. Then he started again as a regular player in the spring season, which he had to briefly interrupt after two games due to his call-up to the national football team of the Dominican Republic . For his country of birth he came on March 25, 2015 in a 3-0 defeat in a friendly international match against Cuba , when he played from the start and was replaced by Kerbi Rodríguez from the 73rd minute of the game . Contact with the national team had already been established a year earlier through the Zurich-born Dominican-Swiss dual citizen Heinz Barmettler , who was the team captain of the national team at the time . After returning to Switzerland, he was already under the new coach Thomas Jent , who replaced Gerstenmaier despite his successes - including being first in the table over the winter. Lent, however, only rarely used the native Dominican as a regular player, which means that the center forward was in none of the remaining games until the end of the season on the lawn for the full game. In the final standings he again took third place in the table with FC Baden, but - in contrast to last year - was not eligible for the relegation. With the team he was eliminated in the second round , in the two games against SC Cham , with a total score of 0: 9 from the first and second leg. In total, the offensive player made 20 league appearances, as well as eight goals and two assists and was also used in a qualifier for the Swiss Cup 2014/15 , as well as in the first round match of the main competition against FC St. Gallen .

At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, another club change followed, this time bringing the trained striker to FC Wohlen , in the Challenge League , the second highest division in Swiss football. After he had advanced from the fourth to the second division, he acted in this under coach Martin Rueda exclusively as a substitute player and took place on the bench from the start. He already made his competitive debut in the first round match, a 1-1 away draw against FC Aarau , when he came onto the pitch for Bujar Lika from the 84th minute . After that he was a member of the squad until the winter break except for one game in all previous championship games and was briefly used in six of the 18 league games that were possible. In order to gain match practice, Lugo was briefly used in the second team with play in the fifth-class 2nd interregional league - group 5 and was awarded during the winter break to the Swiss third-division club SC Young Fellows Juventus , where he from now on mostly only as a substitute player was handled. Only in the course of time did he come to longer missions and was often in various offensive positions. By the end of the season, he had made eleven championship appearances for the Zurich club and scored one goal. While SC YF Juventus took tenth place in the table, their home club FC Wohlen made it eighth of ten places in the Challenge League.

In the summer break before the 2016/17 season, Lugo returned to his old club, FC Baden, and started the season as a regular on the wings . However, after completing three championship rounds, he was no longer in the squad of the team still coached by Thomas Jent due to injury.
