Lupine Sansei , also Lupine the Third Part IV , ( Japanese ル パ ン 三世 , in Italy Lupine III - L'avventura italiana ) is an anime television series from 2015 that continues the Lupine III series. It was created at Studio Telecom Animation Film and can be classified into the genres of his own , action, adventure and comedy . On January 8, 2016, the TV movie Italian Game , which consists of three episodes from the series and new scenes, was broadcast on Japanese television.

The stories tell the adventures of the master thief Lupine III. and his accomplice Daisuke Jigen in Italy. They travel across the country in search of treasure or on a robbery. In doing so, they repeatedly meet their old friends, the thief Fujiko Mine, or are supported by the samurai Goemon Ishikawa. Goemon also experiences some adventures on his own. In addition, Inspector Zenigata from Interpol is always after them and Lupine makes the acquaintance of Rebecca Rossellini, a rich young noblewoman whom he immediately marries for a treasure. But Rebecca herself - out of boredom and a thirst for adventure - is active as a thief. Lupine and Rebecca try to outsmart each other several times.

Production and publication

The series was created at Studio Telecom Animation Film under the overall direction of Kazuhide Tomonaga . Under him, Yūichirō Yano was also involved as a director. Yūya Takahashi wrote the script and Yasuhiro Yamako was the artistic director . Kazuhiro Tamura directed the computer animations created at Dandelion Animation Studio . Director Kazuhide Tomonaga and composer Yūji Ōno have already been involved in previous Lupine film adaptations.

The 26 episodes of the anime were first broadcast on the Italian broadcaster Italia 1 from August 30 to November 30, 2015 . Following the finale, a 30-minute Italian-produced documentary on the creation of the franchise and the series was broadcast on Italia 1 under the title Lupine III - Speciale L'Avventura Italiana . On October 18, 2018, the director Luca Martera published a 1.5-hour version of the documentary entitled Lupine III - Tutta la Storia online. From October 2, 2015 to March 18, 2016, the series was broadcast in Japan on Nippon TV . However, when it premiered in Japan, only 24 of the 26 episodes were broadcast, with the remaining two being premiered on DVD, Blu-ray, and online, as well as being broadcast on reruns. An English dubbed version was released by Anime Limited . In addition, the series with subtitles by Crunchyroll was released via streaming media as a simulcast in North and South America, the United Kingdom and Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, as well as the Netherlands and Scandinavia, and Wakanim in French-speaking countries .

The music of the Italian and therefore international version was composed by Papik . Lupine, un ladro in vacanza by the Italian rapper Moreno was used as the opening song . The music for the Japanese version of the series was composed by Yūji Ōno . The opening title Theme from Lupine III 2015 is from You & Explosion Band, with whom Yūji Ōno often collaborates, and the closing credits song is Chanto Iwanakya Ai Sanai ( ち ゃ ん と 言 わ な き ゃ 愛 愛 さ な い ) by Sayuri Ishikawa . Internationally, U belong to me by meg and Don't leave me by Sweep were used for the opening and closing credits.

Manga

From October 2015 a manga series on the anime was published in the Manga Action magazine by Futabasha . The series was written by Lupine creator Monkey Punch and implemented in drawings by Naoya Hayakawa . Four edited volumes were published, the last one being published on November 28, 2016.
