The Air Force Training Battalion (LwAusbBtl) in Germersheim is part of the Bundeswehr as a training facility of the German Air Force .
assignment
In this unit, mainly air force soldiers are prepared for service in the armed forces within the three-month basic training . The battalion also conducts the course-related preparatory training for crisis management and conflict prevention (EAKK).
history
The origin of today's Air Force Training Battalion (LwAusbBtl) was formed by the last remaining battalion of the Air Force Training Regiment (LwAusbRgt) at Achum Air Base near Bückeburg. In August 1958, recruits were trained - initially in only two units, the 11th and 12th companies. In 1959 the battalion was relocated to Leipheim , then in 1965 to Germersheim. After the realignment of the Bundeswehr through the suspension of compulsory military service, the air force training battalion is the only remaining of the former five battalions of the air force training regiment . Today it carries out the basic training for men and officer candidates in the air force centrally at the Germersheim and Roth locations .
