Lydyja Kostjantyniwna Semenowa ( Ukrainian Лидия Костянтинівна Семенова , English transcription Lidia Semenova ; born November 22, 1951 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian chess player and since 1982 women's grandmaster .

Life

In 1972 she played the Soviet women's chess championship in Tolyatti , which Marta Litinskaya won. 1978 in Nikolajew Lydyja Semenowa was divided first with Irina Levitina . The Spartakiade 1979, the Soviet Women's Championships 1979 and 1980, and a tournament in Rostov-on-Don were further successes. In the 1980s she was among the world's top women.

Semenowa is listed as inactive because she has not played a rated game since the 2011 Kiev championship.

Women's Candidates Tournaments

She was divided first at the zone tournament in 1981 in Leningrad and then played the interzonal tournament in Bad Kissingen in 1982 , which Nona Gaprindashvili won. In 1983 she was able to win in the quarter-finals against Margareta Muresan in Bad Kissingen and in the semi-finals against Nana Iosseliani . In the final of the women's world championship, she then lost to Irina Levitina in Sochi in 1984 .

In the 1986 Candidates Tournament in Malmö , she reached a shared fourth place. Elena Akhmilovskaya won the tournament. In 1987 she was tied for third in the interzonal tournament in Tuzla , Nana Iosseliani was first. In the playoff, Semenova lost to Agnieszka Brustman . She still played the interzonal tournaments in Jakarta in 1993 (which Ketewan Arachamia won), and in 1995 in Chișinău (in which Arachamia was first).

Lydyja Semenowa took part in two women's chess Olympiads . In 1984 in Thessaloniki she won the team championship with the Soviet Union and achieved both the best individual result of all reserve players and the best Elo performance of all participants. In 1992 in Manila , she took second place with Ukraine.

In the 1970s, Semenova first played on the girls' board, later on the women's board at Avangard and won the Soviet club championship with this in 1978. In 1982 she won this competition at the Trud women's board . With the team of the Grandmaster School Kiev , Semenova took part in the European Club Cup for women in 1997 and 1999 and reached third place each time.

More tournaments

From 1990 to 2009 she took part in many tournaments in Russia , Poland and especially in Ukraine. She played championships in Kiev (1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007) and the Kiev women's championships in 2001, 2002 and 2003. She also took part in the Ukrainian women's championships in 2000, 2002, 2003 (2nd place ) and 2004. She played the annual Cup Independence - Ukraine from 2002 to 2009.
