Lylian Klimek

Lylian Evelyn Klimek (born January 1, 1942 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian visual artist .

Life

In 1968 Lylian Klimek graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton with a master's degree in social sciences , where she received a bachelor's degree in sculpture in 1973 and a master of arts (MA) in visual arts in 1975 . From 1978 to 2005 she taught art and sculpture at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary .

Lylian Klimek experiments with a variety of materials such as fiberglass, concrete, cellulose, and wood and integrates its properties into her installations and sculptures. She uses computer programs to develop her works of art.

From 1972 she participated in numerous group exhibitions, including the 1975 exhibition Women as Viewer , a project for the International Year of Women , at the Winnipeg Art Gallery . Her sculptures have been shown regularly in solo exhibitions since the late 1980s, such as in 1991 at the Glenbow Museum . She exhibited some sculptures and sculptures in Coquitlam , Kelowna , Calgary and Nelson .

Works by Lylian Klimek are part of the permanent art collection of the Alberta Art Foundation of Arts and Government House in Edmonton .
