Lynsey Baxter

Lynsey Baxter (born May 7, 1959 in West Ham , London ) is a British actress with character roles in film, television and theater. She became internationally known for her roles in the cinema productions The Beloved of the French Lieutenant , The Girl on the Swing , The Pleasure Principle , Death in the Cold Morning Light and The Gospel of John .

life and career

Lynsey Baxter, born in West Ham in London in 1959, played theater roles as a child. She later received her training at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London. She began her career on British television in the mid-1970s. She played in numerous television films, series and mini-series, including in the 1970s in television series such as Operation Patch (1976) or The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1978).

Since 1981 she has appeared as an actress in cinema productions at irregular intervals. With her role as Ernestina, she made her feature film debut in Karel Reisz's romantic drama The Beloved of the French Lieutenant, alongside stars like Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons . She had other cinema appearances in Francis Megahy's comedy Real Life in 1984 , in Gordon Hessler's thriller The Girl on the Swing in 1988, in 1992 in the relationship comedy Das Lustprinzip next to Peter Firth , and in 1996 in the Friedrich Dürrenmatt film Death in the Cold Morning Light by director Rudolf van den Berg and 2003 in Robbie Moffat's adventure film The Bone Hunter and Philip Saville's Bible adaptation The Gospel of John in the role of Mary Magdalene.

Baxter played more complex TV roles in 1989 in 7 episodes of the TV series Two Serious Ladies in Dublin as Serena, furthermore in the TV series Chancer in 1990 in 13 episodes, where she embodied the character of Victoria Douglas. She also appeared in the television miniseries The Mushroom Picker in 1993 and in the series Police Doctor Dangerfield in 1998, Psychos in 1999 and in 13 episodes of the series Peak Practice in 2000 , where she was seen as Kate Turner.

In addition to her career in film and television, Lynsey Baxter has played regularly in theater productions since the 1970s and also acts as a radio play speaker on the radio. In 2012 she also directed For the Love of Him, her first own dramatic short film as a screenwriter and director.
