Mülenen is a small place at 692 m above sea level. M. in Kandertal in the canton of Bern . The road along the Suldbach separates the village and is also the municipality boundary between Reichenbach im Kandertal and Aeschi bei Spiez . Mülenen is located on the Lötschberg line in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland . The Niesenbahn , the longest funicular in Europe, leads from the village to the Niesen on Lake Thun .
History and archeology
In Mülenen there was the medieval Mülenen Castle and a Letzimauer that ran across the valley. The latter was uncovered and preserved by the archaeological service of the canton of Bern in 1990 and 1995. In Sodbrunnen the castle, among other things, a medieval chess piece found in wood with rich ornamentation.
The Mülenen barrier from the Second World War is a military-historical monument of regional importance.
