Münnich (noble family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Münnich is the name of a noble family from Oldenburg , which later achieved great prestige, especially in Russia .

history

The Münnich come from the Stedinger Land . The lineage of the family begins with Hermann Mönnich († 1617)

Anton Günther Mönnich (1650–1721), great-grandson of the former, was ennobled by King Christian V of Denmark in 1688, his older brother Johann Dierich Mönnich not until 1697, and on the occasion also received an improvement in the coat of arms . Emperor Leopold I confirmed both the nobility and the coat of arms in 1702.

The eldest son, Johann Rudolf von Münnich (1678–1730), like the youngest, Christian Wilhelm von Münnich (1686–1768), stayed in Oldenburg. With the middle son, Burkhard Christoph von Münnich (1683–1767), whom the younger brother succeeded in 1731, the family transplanted to Russia. Burkhard was raised to the status of Russian count there in 1728 , which in turn found recognition and confirmation for the German Empire as Münnich von Wartenberg in Dresden in 1741 . In the years 1741 and 1762/63 he was the owner of the Free Standesherrschaft Wartenberg in Lower Silesia . His sex was enrolled in 1732 both with the Estonian Knighthood (No. 253) and in 1747 with the Livonian Knighthood (No. 127).
