The 2009/10 season of the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga was the first season of the highest Russian junior division in ice hockey .

The 22 teams of the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga were divided into two conferences before the season according to regional criteria, with the western conference with twelve teams having two more teams than the eastern conference. Each team played six times against each opponent in the conference, making the number of games per team 66 and 54, respectively.
The eight best teams from each conference then qualified for the playoffs, in which the winner of the Kharlamov Cup was played. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after extra time, one point for a loss after extra time and zero points for a loss after regular time.
