The Severnaya Skazka ( Russian Северная Сказка , Nordic fairy tale ' ; 1957-2018 Russian Карл Маркс Karl Marx ) is a river cruise ship that was built in 1957 in the GDR on the VEB Mathias-Thesen-Werft Wismar in Wismar as the ship Karl Marx of the series II 588-317 and belongs to the Rodina class (Project 588) / (Project 588-317). The German name is BiFa type A (inland passenger ship type A). It was named after the most influential theorist of socialism and communism, Karl Marx .

The river cruise ship under construction number 113 with three passenger decks was built in 1957 in the GDR for the Soviet Union . It belongs to a prepared 1954-1961 series of vessels 49 of the type Rodina , in two divergent series of batch ran. The first series of 11 ships of the Chkalov class and since 1957 the second series of 38 ships of the cosmonaut Gagarin class.
The ship has a diesel-electric drive with three main engines. The ship is operated by the company OOO Infoflot on the routes Moscow - Saint Petersburg , Saint Petersburg - Valaam , Nizhny Novgorod - Volgograd , Volgograd - Kazan , Nizhny Novgorod - Moscow, Moscow - Kazan. The captain of the Severnaya Skazka is Vladimir Mikhailovich Saweljew (Russian Савельев Владимир Михайлович) (as of 2019).
Furnishing
All cabins are equipped with a toilet, shower and sink, refrigerator, television set with satellite TV reception and central air conditioning. There are two restaurants each for 60 and 90 people and two bars on the ship. After the renovation in 2007/2008, the number of passenger seats was significantly reduced.
