MUH plant in Pronsfeld

The MUH Arla eG is a dairy company with headquarters in Pronsfeld in Bitburg-Prüm , Rheinland-Pfalz .

history

The company was founded in 1966 when the Eifel dairy cooperatives in Üttfeld , Schönecken and Bleialf merged to form Milch-Union Hocheifel eG .

In 1967, the plant in Pronsfeld was built in a twelve-month construction period on an approximately 10 hectare site in the forest on the L 16. In the 1980s, the Milch-Union developed into one of the largest long-life milk producers in Europe by taking over the dairy cooperatives in Mettendorf and in St. Vith and Büllingen in East Belgium.

In 2011, it processed 1,317 million kilograms of milk , which was obtained from 2,442 milk producers (as of December 31, 2011) from the Eifel , Moselle , Rhineland , Lower Rhine , Bergisches Land , Belgium and Luxembourg regions . The supplying farmers are united in a milk supply cooperative.

After the EU competition authority approved the merger, Milch-Union Hocheifel has been part of the Arla Group since October 1, 2012 . The group was renamed MUH Arla eG . The operative business is carried out by Arla Foods Deutschland GmbH, based in Düsseldorf.
