Mały Kack ( German Klein Katz , also Klein-Katz , Kashubian Małë Kack ) is a district of Gdynia in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship . It borders in the north on the districts Witomino-Leśniczówka, Witomino-Radiostacja, Działki Leśne, in the east on Wzgórze Świętego Maksymiliana, Redłowo and Orłowo and in the west on the two districts Karwiny and Wielki Kack. To the south it borders on the city of Sopot . The development of the district consists mainly of single-family houses.
history
For the year 1789, Klein Katz is described as a noble Vorwerk and Käthnerdorf with 36 fireplaces. At that time it had a Lutheran church, two steel hammers, a paper and water grinder. It belonged to the Stolzenberg judicial district and the main district of Oliva . The landowner was a major general Graf von Krokow . The district was incorporated into Gdynia on June 13, 1935. During the German occupation , the Germans changed the name of the district to Klein Katz.
Geographical location
Mały Kack stretches along the Kacza Valley and the moraine hills on the border with Sopot.
The border with Witomin-Radiostacja, Witomin-Leśniczówka and Karwiny is defined by a picturesque section of the Nowa Wieś Wielka – Gdynia railway line . The route passes the foot of a hill, the top of which dominates most of Mały Kack and the neighboring districts.
On the border with Karviny, where the railway line 201 crosses Wielkopolska street, the construction of the Gdynia-Karwiny stop for trains of the Pomeranian Railway Company (PKM) is planned.
School and culture
There are three schools in Mały Kack: the Przedszkole Francuskie przy Związku Francuzów Zagranicą , the Amerykańska Szkoła Podstawowa (American primary school) and the Zespół Szkół nr 6 w Gdyni a middle school. The Centrum Kultury w Gdyni (Gdynia Cultural Center) is located at ul. Łowicka .
