geography

course

The Maasbecke rises at an altitude of 122  m above sea level. NHN east of the Hattingen district of Holthausen north of Holthauser Strasse .

It initially flows in a north-northeast direction about half a kilometer along the eastern edge of the village, changes to the north-northwest at the exit of the village and then runs gently meandering for another half a kilometer through farmland. The stream now changes to the west, runs north of Heiskampstraße in an agricultural strip between the grounds of the AVOLA machine factory in the south and a deciduous forest in the north and then enters the forest area after it has absorbed the water of the Behrenbecke .

At the Ludwigstal industrial estate, the Maasbecke runs its course to the northeast and, a little further down the stream, reaches the nature reserve named after it . There it is reinforced on its right by the Hesselbecke . The Maasbecke then flows about four hundred meters through the protected area on the northeast edge of the industrial area, then runs past a small Russian cemetery of honor, then crosses under the L 924 ( Blankensteiner Straße ) and finally flows south of the Hattingen district of Welper at an altitude of about 81  m above sea level . NHN from the right into the Sprockhöveler Bach .

The approximately 3.3 km long course of the Maasbecke ends approximately 41 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of approximately 12 ‰.
