Maaskantje is a village in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant . It belongs to the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel , southeast of 's-Hertogenbosch and just under 50 km west of the German cities of Goch and Kleve . The village of Maaskantje has 1805 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2018) on an area of 2.86 km². Maaskantje and the neighboring village Den Dungen have grown together to form a continuous settlement area.

Trivia
Maaskantje became internationally known through the Dutch comedy series New Kids and the movies New Kids Turbo and New Kids Nitro . The series is broadcast in several countries on Comedy Central television. The main characters in the series pose in front of the Maaskantje town sign in every sketch . Some of the skits were also shot on site, most of them in the neighboring village of Den Dungen. The music video for Friends Turbo by the Euro dance band Scooter was shot in the village .
Due to its popularity through the films and the skits, the place became a popular destination for fans of the new kids. Since the Maaskantje place-name sign was a very coveted trophy for fans, it was often dismantled and stolen and therefore has not been re-erected in the meantime.
