Mac Kac

Mac Kac (actually Jean-Baptiste Reilles * 29. May 1920 in Toulouse ; † 17th August 1987 in Sète ) was a French jazz - drummer .

Live and act

Mac Kac, who had Catalan roots and came from a Manouche family, began his career in Toulouse in the mid-1930s. Reilles played in the mid-1940s in the orchestra or quintet of Michel de Villers , on whose recordings for Swing he participated (" How High the Moon "). During this time he also worked with Frank "Big Boy" Goudie and George Johnson , in the early 1950s a. a. with Raymond Le Sénéchal , Guy Lafitte / Peanuts Holland , Bernard Peiffer and His Saint Germain Des Pres Orchestra and in his trio with Jean-Marie Ingrand , also with Stéphane Grappelli , Jean Pierre Sasson and Maxim Saury . In 1955 he was a member of Jay Cameron 's International Sax Band and the Don Rendell / Bobby Jaspar Combo. In the 1950s he worked a. a. also with Buck Clayton , Sacha Distel , Lionel Hampton , Peanuts Holland, Guy Lafitte, Les Blue Stars , Sammy Price , Christian Garros , Michel Attenoux and Henri Salvador ( Salvador Plays the Blues ). In 1957 he recorded the album Mac-Kac & His French Rock & Roll for Atlantic Records . A series of singles and EPs for the Fontana Records label followed between 1960 and 1962 . He also appeared regularly in the Paris Club Saint-Germain , u. a. with Pierre Cullaz and Pierre Simonian . The last recordings were made in 1983 with Jo Privat's orchestra ( Deux guitars et un violon ). In the field of jazz he was involved in 42 recording sessions between 1946 and 2011.
