action

Together with his heavily pregnant wife Astrid and some friends, Adije visits his sister Ladya, who works as a waitress in a restaurant in Bandung . The two are barely in contact after their parents were killed in a car accident. Ladya blames Adije for the accident. Nevertheless, Adije wants to say goodbye to her because he wants to fly to Sydney tomorrow to take a new job there. Her friends Alam, Eko and Jimmy want to accompany her to the airport. Astrid also persuades Ladya to come along.

At a rest stop they meet a young woman named Maya. She claims to have been attacked on the way to Jakarta . After a short discussion, Astrid suggests bringing her home. Maya leads her to a secluded house and introduces her mother Dara's friends. She and her two brothers Adam and Arman greet the rescuers. Dara insists that the friends stay for dinner as a thank you for the rescue. Adije and Astrid give up thanks and rest in a guest room. The others stay, drink drugged red wine and lose consciousness in quick succession . Eko withdraws to her room with Maya and passes out shortly afterwards. Alam wakes up at the dinner table and Maya wants to seduce him too. When he rejects her, she attacks him several times with a knife. A duel ensues and Alam is able to flee. Shortly afterwards, however, he is attacked by Maya's brother Adam and seriously injured with apparently superhuman powers. Adije and Astrid hear of the argument and are also followed by Adam. Adam gets hold of Adije and breaks his ankle, while Astrid escapes into the room upstairs and barricades herself there. She listens at the door to find out what Adam is up to on the other side while he rams a knife into her hand through the door. In the meantime, Ladya has to watch as the second brother Arman cuts the tied Alam on a bed with a chainsaw and fillets individual pieces of meat . Meanwhile, Dara tortures Adije in the hallway - Astrid helplessly has to listen to his screams in the barricaded room. Meanwhile, Arman prepares Ladya and lays her on the couch. However, Ladya is able to free a tied arm and seriously injure Arman with a knife. She can free Eko and Jimmy from their chains. The three escape through a shaft into the open air and are followed there by Maya and Adam. Ladya is shot by Dara with a crossbow and remains motionless in the forest. Jimmy is killed, while Eko, seriously injured, escapes and stops on a street in the headlights of a vehicle.

Astrid sees a couple pulling up in a car through a small window. She calls for help, but the couple are friends of Dara who are collecting a shipment of human flesh. So shocked she gives birth to her child. Astrid then leaves the room to take care of Adije. In the meantime, Dara sneaks into the room and takes the baby. She indicates to the two that they can survive if they leave the child to her. However, if they tried to get the child back, they would both die today too. Adije attacks Dara, but she too has superhuman powers, overwhelms and chokes him to the point of unconsciousness. Ladya has returned to the house to free Adije and Astrid. She witnesses the duel before Arman takes control of her again.

Meanwhile, Eko ran in front of the vehicle of a police patrol who wanted to bring a petty criminal to the guard. The four officers drive to Dara's house together. Dara states that Eko is a student who is temporarily living with. The officers are suspicious and want to look around the house. They discover an old film and photographs from the beginning of the 20th century. They show Adam, Arman and Maya. Another photograph shows Dara - it is dated to 1889. Meanwhile, Arman wants to rape Ladya upstairs . Ladya manages to hurt Arman in the eye with a sharp object. The officers hear the scream and want to look. At that moment Adam turns off the lights in the entire building. Dara's family gradually kills all police officers in the dark. But Maya was also seriously injured by a gunshot. Dara finds her in front of the building and breaks her seriously injured daughter's neck.

Meanwhile, Ladya is back with Adije, who is conscious again and takes care of his son. Adam attacks Adije. During the duel, they destroy several jars with inlaid pieces of meat that are on shelves on the walls. Eko arrives and pierces Adam with a sword, but that can't kill him either. Ladya finally throws Adam a burning lighter and sets Adam's clothes soaked with flammable liquid on fire. When Ladya, Adije and Eko want to leave the house with the baby, they are attacked again by Adam and Eko dies. Ladya manages to stab him with a massive hairpin from Dara. She and Adije cut off Adam's head with a sickle. Shortly thereafter, Dara attacks her with a chainsaw. She reveals to Ladya that they need human flesh to live longer. Adije intervenes in the fight and is seriously injured by Dara with a chainsaw. She attacks Ladya again, but Ladya can wrestle her to the ground with antlers and strangle her with a chain. Adije is dying. He apologizes to Ladya and asks her to take care of his son.

At dawn, Ladya can finally leave the house with the baby. She gets into the police car and is about to drive off when Dara smashes the window of the vehicle and attacks Ladya again. She starts the vehicle, drives off with Dara and can shake her off on a tree. She makes sure that the baby is fine and drives away. In the last shot you can see that Dara's hand is twitching and that she is therefore still alive.

criticism

The website horrorpilot.com compares the work with the French horror film Inside . But Macabre is “thicker” and has a higher body count . All in all, however, the film is “not a bad film despite some weaknesses, which will be particularly well received in the splatter community.” The family-of-horror.de website does not make such a good judgment. She rates the film with 49% and considers it a "torture horror film of the bad kind: comedy-like behavior of the hapless protagonists as well as an uninspired story cause eye pain in the audience."
