Magdalena Irschick , married Magda Freiin von Perfall ( July 10, 1841 in Vienna - January 16, 1935 in Schliersee ) was an Austro-German theater actress .

Life

Magdalena Irschick (Irschik) was the daughter of a respected cabinet maker. She received her first suggestions, which were to become significant for her future life, from visiting the Burgtheater. Especially the achievements of Julie Radich made a deep impression on the young girl. She received her theatrical training from the wife of Karl Wilhelm Lukas and through various attempts at the Sulkowsky Theater.

On the recommendation of Heinrich Laube , who had examined her and recognized her talent, but only wanted to hire her for smaller roles at the castle, she received a recommendation to the Hamburg Thaliatheater, in whose association she joined in 1864. However, the beginner did not come into its own in such a brilliant artistic setting and so she took up engagement in Königsberg after only five months.

The German-Austrian war in 1866 interrupted her artistic effectiveness and so she tried her hand at reading classical poetry.

Soon afterwards she found engagement with the Opermannsche Gesellschaft in Berlin, from where she went to America to appear as a partner of Bogumil Dawison . She made her debut in New York and later became the crowd favorite in Philadelphia and Baltimore. After Dawison, she joined Hermann Hendrichs , with whom she also made a guest appearance in America and began the journey home to Europe together. On his recommendation, the artist was invited to a guest performance at the court theater in Berlin, but since Louise Erhardt was already engaged in her field, she left Berlin again (1869), and took up engagements in Breslau, Königsberg and Cologne. In Cologne she saw Heinrich Richter , who was traveling through Germany to find a replacement for Clara Ziegler . At his suggestion, Irschik was appointed court actress to Munich in 1875. In 1877 she was engaged by Karl Hoff for the role of "history" at the festival before Kaiser Wilhelm I in the artists' association Malkasten in Düsseldorf .

In the same year she married the writer Anton von Perfall . From then on, the major guest tours began, which took them all over Germany and America. She was also the first German artist of importance who penetrated America over the rocky mountains to the Pacific and celebrated triumphs in San Francisco . She returned to New York via Mexico. She appeared three times in America.

In 1882 she took on another engagement at the Leipzig City Theater, but in 1883 withdrew in part from stage work to Schliersee. After 1883 she made a few guest appearances. In Schliersee she later died very old at the age of 93.
