Maria Magdalena Aicega Amicarelli (born November 1, 1973 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine field hockey player . She took part in the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008, as well as in many world championships and international tournaments with the national team.

Career

Aicega represented their country for the first time at the 1993 Junior World Cup in Barcelona and won the title with the team. The following year she was already in the national team at the World Cup in Dublin . 1995 played for the first time at the Champions Trophy in Mar del Plata . At the Pan American Games she won the gold medal with the team and was able to repeat the title win in 1999, 2003 and 2007.

In 2000, she won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Sydney . A year later she won the Champions Trophy. In 2002 she became world champion in Perth , Australia . Aicega is the Argentine player who holds the record for most medals in the Champions Trophy.

In 2004 she won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Athens . She was able to repeat this at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . In 2008 she won the Champions Trophy in Mönchengladbach .

The 2006 Olympic Silver Award stands out among the awards and recognitions. She was nominated for Player of the Year by the International Hockey Federation in 1999. However, this award was won by the Australian Alyson Annan .
