Magdalena from Rudy
Magdalena von Rudy (* 1973 in Racibórz , Poland ) is a freelance artist who is particularly active in the field of video art .
Life
Von Rudy emigrated from Poland to Germany in 1991 and was initially a member of the theater group “Bread and Games” in Remscheid . From 1995 to 2001 she studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf in Tony Cragg's class, where she also received her diploma as a master class student.
In 2006 she won the 12th Marl Video Art Prize for her work Persona Syndrom , which focuses on Ingmar Bergman's film Persona .
Von Rudy has also worked in art education for many years, for example at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and the Hochschule Düsseldorf . In 2009, von Rudy was a “Visiting Professor” at the Wladyslaw Strzeminski Art Academy in Lodz, Poland .
From 2016 to 2018 she researched artistic approaches in the school context as part of the “ Art Laboratory” project of the Alanus University of Art and the Merkator Foundation.
von Rudy lives in Wuppertal . She exhibits regularly, for example in 2019 in the D-Polytop exhibition in the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf .
