Magomedali Magomedowitsch Magomedow ( Russian Магомедали Магомедович Магомедов ; born June 15, 1930 in Levaschi , Dagestani ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian politician. From 1987 to 2006 he held the highest office of the Dagestani ASSR or the Republic of Dagestan .

Life

Magomedali Magomedow graduated from the Dagestani Teachers' College in 1950 and then worked as a teacher. Since 1957 Magomedov worked in agriculture. In 1968 he completed his correspondence course at the Dagestani Agricultural College. Since 1970 he made a career in the CPSU . First he became the first secretary of the district party committee in Levashi, in 1975 he was transferred to Makhachkala , where he took over the post of head of the department of agriculture in the party committee of the republic. In 1979 he began working in the government of the Autonomous Republic. From 1979 to 1983 he was deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers, from 1983 to 1987 chairman. In August 1987 he switched to the legislature and was elected chairman of the presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Dagestani ASSR. After the abolition of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet in 1990, Magomedov was chairman of the Supreme Soviet and from 1994 of the State Council of the Republic of Dagestan. Magomedov held this post until February 2006, when the presidency was established in Dagestan and he was replaced by Muchu Aliyev .

Magomedow is married and has six children. From 2010 to 2013 his son Magomedsalam was President of Dagestan.

Magomedow belongs to the Dargin ethnic group .
