Magomedsalam Magomedalijewitsch Magomedow (born June 1, 1964 in Levaschi , Dagestani ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian politician. From 2010 to 2013 he was President of the North Caucasian Republic of Dagestan ( Russian Federation ).

biography

Magomedsalam Magomedow studied from 1981 to 1986 at the Faculty of Economics of the State University of Dagestani in Makhachkala . From 1986 to 1990 he was an aspirant of the Plekhanov Academy of Economics in Moscow . In 1991 Magomedov returned to the Dagestani University as a lecturer and most recently headed the Department of Economics and Sociology of Labor. Since 1998 he has been working as a consultant or employee of the Dagestani government (full-time from 2001). He headed a working group for the development of the shelf in the Caspian Sea off the coast of Dagestan . Magomedov was elected to the parliament of the Republic of Dagestan several times. From February 2006 to April 2007 he was President of Parliament.

In February 2010, Magomedsalam Magomedov was proposed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for the office of President of Dagestan. In the same month the parliament elected him as the new head of Dagestan. In January 2013 he was released from office and transferred to Moscow, where he took over the post of deputy head of the presidential administration. Ramasan Abdulatipov was appointed as his acting successor as President of Dagestan .

Magomedov was also active as a football player and official. In 1990 he played three games for Dynamo Makhachkala as a goalkeeper . From 2001 to 2002 he was Vice-President of Anzhi Makhachkala .

Magomedsalam Magomedow is the son of the former president of Dagestan Magomedali Magomedow . He belongs to the Dargin ethnic group .
