Magomedrasul Muchtarowitsch Gazimagomedow (born April 8, 1991 in Dagestan ) is a Russian wrestler . In 2015 and 2018 he became world champion in free style in the weight class up to 70 kg body weight
Career
Magomedrasul Gazimagomedow belongs to the Tindi ethnic group , a Muslim minority living in the south of Dagestan . The 1.77 meter tall athlete is now based in Stavropol and belongs to the Bazarganowa Sports Club. His coaches were or are Eldar Nashmudinow, Ferzula Islamow and Chaibulla Chaibullajew.
Magomedrasul Gazimagomedow is a late starter because he only joined the Russian national freestyle wrestling team at the age of 23. In 2015 he was surprisingly the Russian champion in the weight class up to 70 kg. On the way to this success he defeated the reigning world champion of 2014 Chetag Zabolow and in the final also Israil Kasjumow in a preliminary round fight . He was then used by the Russian Wrestling Association at the European Games in Baku in June 2015 and won the title there with victories over Saur Efendiew, Serbia, Evgeni Nedealco, Moldova, Yakup Gör , Turkey and Magomedmurad Gadschiew , Poland. In September 2015 he also won the World Championships in Las Vegas. On the way to this success he defeated Anchbayar Batchuluun, Mongolia, Nurlan Bekschanow , Kazakhstan, Yakup Gör, Asamat Nurikau , Belarus and Hassan Yazdani from Iran.
In November 2015 he started at the so-called "Club World Championship" in Mazadaran / Iran for the Iranian team "Bimeh Razi", which won this Club World Championship. On the way to this success he defeated Mortesa Goudarzi, Iran, Balász Kálmán, Hungary, Bold Khuu Batsukh, Mongolia, Dadaschpour Saeid, Iran and Dustin Schlatter from the United States.
In January 2016 Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov injured himself at the "Ivan Yarigin" tournament in Krasnoyarsk and was unable to do so for the whole of 2016. He also missed a possible start at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
After the recovery, the year 2017 was determined to regain the old form in several build-up tournaments. He also did an excellent job. Although he had to be content with 2nd place behind Magomed Kurbanalijew at the "Ivan Yarigin" tournament in Krasnoyarsk in 2018 in the weight class up to 70 kg, at the Russian championship of this year he was again ahead of Arbak Sat, Magomed Kurbanalijew and Dawid Bajew Russian master. He was then used again at the World Cup, which took place in Budapest. In Budapest he defeated Mustafa Kaya , Turkey, Haislan Antonio Veranes Garcia, Canada, Byambadorj Bat Erdene, Mongolia, Surabi Iakobishvili , Georgia and Adam Batirow , Bahrain and became world champion for the second time.
At the European Championship 2019 in Bucharest Magomedrasul Gazimagomedow lost in the weight class up to 70 kg in his first fight with 3: 4 techn. Points against Aghahüseyin Mustafajew from Azerbaijan. Since this reached the final, he was able to continue in the consolation round and secure a bronze medal with victories over Dewid Safarjan, Armenia and Nicolae Cojocaru, Great Britain.
