The Maharlika 2 was a Philippine RoRo - cargo and passenger ship that sank on September 13, 2014 during a bad weather. At least eight passengers and crew were killed.

The ship was in 1983/84 from the shipyard Philippine Dockyard Company in Mariveles for the Philippine built government. In November 1983 the ship with the hull number 7 was launched and in 1984 it was put into service. The design of the ship was based on the sister ship Maharlika 1, which was delivered in 1983 by the Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair yard in Niigata . The ship linked routes of the Pan-Philippine Strait, for example, across the San Bernardino Strait and in the Mindanao Sea .
Since leaving on September 13, 2014 at 11:30 a.m., the ferry with over 120 people and 13 vehicles on board was on a journey from Liloan to Surigao City near San Ricardo in Southern Leyte when it turned into a Bad weather area got. At around 9 p.m. the signal was given to leave the ship, which then sank northwest of the island of Panoan . 113 people were rescued, at least eight people died, and a further three people later went missing.
