Maike Boerdam-Strobel (born July 19, 1976 in Knokke-Heist , Belgium , as Maike Boerdam ) is a Dutch musical artist and actress.

Life

As a child, Maike Boerdam had her first solo appearance in the church of her hometown Sluis . Later she began her training at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Drama / Musical) before moving to the Royal Conservatory in Ghent (Drama). She also received singing lessons from Edward Hoepelman .

During her training Maike Boerdam toured in the choir of Helmut Lotti through the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The first offers for a musical role were not long in coming. In 1999 she played the main role in "Asspoester" in Antwerp . This city should also become their home for the next few years. This was followed by appearances in the musicals "Pinokkio" and "Ben". For the role of Sally in "The Hired Man" Maike Boerdam was nominated in 2001 for the "John Kraaijkamp Musical Award".

But she doesn't just feel at home on the musical stage. She is best known to children in the Netherlands and Belgium as Betsy from the children's series “Big en Betsy”. The shooting took place from 1999 to 2002 and the series is still shown weekly on Belgian television (VTM).

Maike Boerdam celebrated her breakthrough in Germany with the role of Empress Elisabeth in the musical of the same name. In 2002 she succeeded Pia Douwes in Essen. Up until the Dernière of the musical " Elisabeth " on June 29, 2003, Maike Boerdam played the Empress every evening and was awarded the "Pall Mall Export Prijs" for this in 2002.

After "Elisabeth" things became quiet in Germany for Maike Boerdam. She completed acting workshops in Los Angeles, accepted a four-week engagement in Tokyo and returned to the starting point of her career - Antwerp - as Maria Rainer in the musical "The Sound of Music". She also stood in front of the camera for the series “De wet volgens Milo” for Dutch and Belgian television, in which she plays the lawyer Eva De Bouw.

When "Elisabeth" was reissued in Stuttgart , Maike Boerdam was again on stage as Sisi for the premiere on March 6, 2005. Her era as Empress ended in February 2006. Together with other musical stars, she went on tour with "Best of Musical" before preparing for her new challenge - the role of Hendrickje Stoffels in the musical "Rembrandt" . But not only professionally this year brought some changes. In April 2006 Maike Boerdam married the German musician, composer and lyricist Michael Strobel, on whose debut album "THINK" she was a background singer. She also shows her other musical side with the maxi CD "Grow into light", on which her own songs can be heard.

After a few years in Germany, Amsterdam became Maike Boerdam's new home in 2006. At Theater Carré she was there until January 2007 in the role of Hendrickje Stoffels alongside Henk Poort as Rembrandt in the musical of the same name. After a short "Best of Musical" tour through Germany and Switzerland, in which she played Mary Poppins, Jane (Tarzan) and Christine (Phantom of the Opera), she returned to Amsterdam. There she was on stage as Cinderella in the musical theater M-Lab until September 29, 2007 for the musical "Into the woods".

On February 25, 2008 Maike Boerdam and her husband Michael Strobel became parents of a son (Luca). He was born in Amsterdam.

In May 2008 Maike Boerdam was back in the musical Into the woods . This time in Bozen (Italy) as a baker's wife. She then took on the role of Betty Schaefer in the musical Sunset Boulevard and toured the largest theaters in the Netherlands with the production from September 2008 to July 2009. From April 2010 to August 2011 Maike Boerdam played the role of Winifred Banks in the musical Mary Poppins , which was performed in the AFAS Circustheater in Scheveningen / The Hague, and the following year she played the role of Ellen in until the last performance on July 8, 2012 Miss Saigon in the Beatrix Theater Utrecht.
